Physical Gold in Focus: Key Takeaways from the Portfolio Investment Day 2025 Conference

The Portfolio Investment Day 2025 was once again one of the most significant events in the Hungarian investment market. More than 500 investors, including institutional players, advisors and private investors gathered to hear first-hand about the key economic trends and investment directions.

Expert panel: precious metals back in the spotlight

In the panel titled "Commodity Markets in Focus: Precious Metals, Energy, Agricultural Products", Gergely Juhász, CEO of Conclude Befektetési Zrt. and founder of Goldtresor, shared his experience of the physical gold investment market.

The other expert on the panel was Tamás Pletser, oil and gas analyst at Erste, with the discussion moderated by Kristóf Mohos, analyst at Portfolio.hu.

The participants explored questions such as:

• how global demand for physical gold is developing,

• what geopolitical factors are influencing the price,

• what role gold plays in an inflation-burdened economic environment,

• and, of course, how long the gold market's long-term upward trend may last.

Even after the closing gong, valuable professional conversations continued in the exhibition area: many visitors sought advice on buying and storing physical precious metals, and on how gold can be effectively integrated into a modern investment portfolio.

Hungarian household reserves remain significantly underutilised

One of the conference's key messages was that a large proportion of Hungarian households continue to hold their savings in cash — trillions of forints are sitting idle while inflation steadily erodes their value.

It is hardly surprising that in this environment, more and more people are recognising the advantages of physical gold:

• an independent asset that does not depend on a bank or financial intermediary,

• a trusted store of value that preserves its worth even in extreme circumstances,

• a long-term value preserver that can be a stable element of a balanced portfolio.

Summary

Portfolio Investment Day 2025 made one thing clear: although physical gold, silver and other precious metals already occupy a prominent place in investors' everyday thinking, the healthy 10-20% precious metals allocation within the average investor's portfolio is still not being achieved.
