The maximum value for which a dealer will arrange home delivery depends on its terms of business, but is typically capped at 10,000-30,000 euros. This also depends on the contract the dealer has in place with its courier partner. In many cases, the courier's standard shipment insurance covers only a base amount, for example 1,000 euros. If the buyer wishes to insure the full value of the goods, supplementary insurance must be purchased, which can amount to approximately one percent of the shipment's value.

For destinations beyond neighbouring countries, gold is generally transported by air freight.
