Modern Investment Gold Coins Minted in Hungary

Gold bars manufactured in Hungary by BAV, Metalart and the Hungarian Mint (2004-2015)
After 2004, Metalart produced gold bars of typically three-nines fineness on behalf of the Hungarian Mint and BAV. These are no longer manufactured, so they can only be found on the secondary market, and increasingly rarely at that. Their price hovers at or slightly below the world market gold price. They are typically purchased by goldsmiths for jewellery production. It would be worthwhile to establish a collection of these sometimes surprisingly beautiful gold products before they are permanently melted down.
Modern coins of the Hungarian Mint
Coins minted by the Hungarian Mint (Magyar Penzverő), a subsidiary of the Hungarian National Bank, primarily explore the themes of Hungarian history, science, and the country's natural and cultural heritage. Among them are works of exceptionally high artistic value, and they are generally produced in limited mintages. They enter the market at high premiums and are most popular among numismatic collectors and gift buyers.
Investment perspective
Why, then, is it worth considering these gold coins from an investment perspective as well? Because complete collections of these modern numismatic coins occasionally come up for sale. When dealing in large lots, gold dealers are typically willing to pay only the precious metal value for (usually inherited) collections. It is therefore possible that one may acquire such a collection below the factory price of the internationally branded modern investment gold coins, since a dealer who has just purchased a large lot will be happy to pass it on for a margin of just a few percent.
Anyone wishing to invest in coins of this kind should build a relationship of trust with a high-volume gold dealer to whom they can give a standing purchase order.
Product catalogue
